Kippenberger: “Das Leben ist hart und ungerecht” (27 February-26 March 1982 & 31 October-28 November 1982).
Black & white and color illus. throughout. 104 pp. 8vo, printed semi-stiff covers. St. Georgen: Thomas Grässlin; Stuttgart: Max-Ulrich Hetzler, 1982.
A rare and early Martin Kippenberger (1953-97) exhibition catalogue, in near fine condition. Produced in an edition of 500-800 copies, according to Koch.
“Der Kippenberger [The Kippenberger] was published to accompany the exhibition Das Leben ist hart und ungerecht [Life is hard and unfair] which was shown at the Forum Kunst in Rottweil from 27 February to 26 March 1982 and at the studio f in Ulm from 31 October to 28 November 1982…
“The catalogue contains reproductions of childhood drawings, early picture series and co-authored texts by Kippenberger as well as texts by Werner Büttner (an article about the book Durch die Pubertät zum Erfolg [Through Puberty to Success] published in Sounds #4/81) and Jean-Christophe Ammann (‘Für Kippenberger’ [For Kippenberger]). The dedication in the book is remarkable: a list of about 120 women’s names.”–Koch.
A near fine copy; minor discoloration to top of lower cover and small mark to spine. WorldCat records just five copies in the United States.
