Several illus. Unpaginated. Small 8vo, accordion format housed in a transparent plastic jacket. Halifax, U.K.: 1998.

The scarce inaugural catalogue for this artists’ books fair coordinated by Chris Taylor and John McDowall. This fair, as were the subsequent iterations, was held at the Dean Clough Galleries in Halifax on 16 May 1998. In the Introduction, Taylor writes: “The Artist’s Book Fair aims to establish a provincial focus for practitioners and publishers outside the capital’s arena; to raise a greater awareness and appreciation from a wider audience; to open up a discourse on the possible limitations that the Artist’s Book genre may be creating regardless of its popularity.”

The catalogue lists the exhibitors, including Book Works, Hardware Gallery, Weproductions, Wild Pansy Press, and a number of provincial booksellers, bookbinders, and gallerists.

Near fine copy; scratched off label on the back side of the plastic jacket. Bookplate: “From the Bindery Collection of David Sellars.” ❧ Not in A. Desjardin, The Book on Books on Artists Books (2nd ed.: 2013).
