This magnificent library was one of the greatest and most complete ever formed on the history, heraldry, genealogy, and numismatics of the Low Countries. The collection was the most important sold since Lammens and van Hulthem 25 years earlier. De Jonghe (1801-60), diplomat and lawyer and the heir of a great fortune, formed his collection over a thirty-year period.
