The rare card announcing Marioni’s feigned ascension to the director position of what was then the San Francisco Museum of Art. Marioni (b. 1937) is a Bay Area conceptual Artist who ran the Museum of Conceptual Art from 1970 to 1984. According to Steven Leiber and Todd Alden’s Extra Art catalogue, this card was printed in an edition of 500.
In fine condition. This copy was mailed to Yoko Ono, with the original postmarked envelope (with San Francisco watermark) addressed to her Canal Street Station post box. One example recorded by WorldCat, SF-MoMA has a signed copy (Artwork no. 96.156).
