Addressed to “dr zedenek felix,” stamped. PTT Telegramm telegram sheet, handwritten date of receipt “28.8.1972” in lower right corner, printed on one side. N.p.: “1972.”
An early Kawara I Am Still Alive telegram, sent from New York to Dr. Zdenek Felix (b. 1938), a curator at the Kunstmuseum Basel. Their association likely began when Felix was editing the catalogue for the “Konzept” – Kunst exhibition (18 March-23 April 1972) at the Kunstmuseum Basel. Kawara’s work was presented in the show, the catalogue for which pictures his Nothing, Something, Everything (1963) and the painting Location from 1965. Around this time, Felix received at least 11 telegrams from Kawara between February and December 1972. In total, Kawara sent nearly 900 telegrams as part of this series between 1969 and 2000.
In fine condition. With the date written in red marker in the bottom right corner.
