One of Leiber’s most accomplished creations, his scarce and great 24th catalogue, a convincing pastiche of Artforum; produced in an edition of 200 copies. It offered art ephemera and the descriptions are made to look like advertisements and articles. As clearly laid out in the table of contents, this homage offered materials by or related to Beuys, Rauschenberg, Johns, Ray Johnson, Vostell, Burden, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Levine, Robert Indiana, Oldenburg, Dick Higgins and the Something Else Press, Gilbert & George, LeWitt, Pistoletto, Weiner, etc., etc. A number of the items are illustrated with photographs by J. John Priola. The full-bleed image on the lower cover, “Lemon picker,” is a blurry photograph of Leiber’s grandmother, Rose Holtz, in whose basement his premises were located (see Steven Leiber Catalogs, p. 232). It imitates the advertisements on the back wrapper of Artforum placed by the Swiss gallerist Bruno Bischofberger (1940-2026).
