this way brouwn.
Ink on paper, stamped “THIS WAY BROUWN,” signed by the artist “Brouwn 64.” Sheet: ca. 310 x 245 mm.; with frame: 345 x 270 mm. [Amsterdam]: “1964.”
A fine example from the artist’s signature series, stamped, inscribed, and dated in the lower right corner. The present work comes from the collection of the influential curator Kasper König (1943-2024). It was originally part of a 12-sheet work, exhibited as such at brouwn’s 1976-77 retrospective exhibitions at the Van Abbemuseum and Kunsthalle Bern. In the late 1970s or early 1980s, the twelve sheets entered König’s collection. König donated six to the Museum Ludwig collection and two were given away privately; the remaining four were sold as a group by Van Ham auction house in Cologne (lot 10, 1-2 October 2024).
