Scarce announcement for Schraenen’s second 1977 exhibition at Other Books and So. Not only a scholar and collector of artists’ publications, Schraenen also ran a publishing firm that produced artists’ books, catalogues, and multiples.

Scarce exhibition catalogue; one of 1000 copies. The Schmidt Heins twins (b. 1949) are two of the most active and prolific book artists in Germany, engaging with newspapers, magazines, photographs, coffee beans, paint, etc. Guy Schraenen (1941-2018), curator at the Neues Museum Weserburg, conceived this exhibition as a retrospective of their bookworks from 1972-82. This catalogue was jointly designed by the twins. Schraenen contributes an essay entitled “Einzahl Mehrzal.” With useful lists of exhibitions and books on the penultimate page.

One of the most important exhibition catalogues from this series; it contains the most authoritative bibliography of the enigmatic artist’s books, multiples, and ephemera. Organized by Guy Schraenen (1941-2018), this exhibition was one of several dozen shows on artists’ publications that he curated.
