The very rare sale catalogue describing the history painter’s art collection and library. Le Barbier (1738-1826) espoused the Neoclassical tenets of David and Vien and executed a number of pictures in a similar style. He also engaged with sculpture, tapestry, and book illustration, and consistently exhibited at the Salon de Paris beginning in 1781. In addition to a choice collection of art, Le Barbier possessed a sizable library rich in literature, fine arts, and ancient history.
