“An Exhibition Based on the Idea of Discussion as an Artform”

Exhibition poster: Discussions (9-20 May [1977]).

Long single sheet, printed on one side only, address label on verso, folded for mailing. New York: [1977].

Very rare poster for this important exhibition of language-based art organized by Annina Nosei Weber, with Renzo Spagnoli Gallery. It is described as an “exhibition based on the idea of discussion as an artform. The discussion, not as performance, not as a panel discussion, but as the artist’s public dialogue, is a specific form of art.”

The program included appearances by: Joseph Beuys, Lucio Pozzi, Sarah Charlesworth, Joseph Kosuth, Anthony McCall, Victor Burgin, David Antin, Carolee Schneemann, Giuseppe Chiari, Ian Wilson, and Robert Ashley.

In near fine condition; minor wear to the extremities from mailing. Mailed to photographer Bevan Davies of New York.

Ian Wilson: The Discussions (2008), p. 110.
