“In 1968, Flavin participated in documenta 4 in Kassel – the documenta that made history as “documenta americana,” due to the high number of artists from the US. After that, his former fellow artist Konrad Lueg…invited him to come and do a solo exhibition in Düsseldorf in 1969. Under the title Fluorescent Light, Flavin showed six works with fluorescent tubes at the gallery on Neubrückstrasse…”–Cloud & Crystal: The Dorothee and Konrad Fischer Collection (2016 exhib. booklet), p. 33.
