One Hundred Meals between Rome and Berlin.

Color illus. throughout. [1], 100, [12] pp. Small 4to, printed wrappers, staple-bound. Milan: Humboldt Books, 2016.

The scarce book recording 100 early works in Jonathan Monk’s Restaurant Drawings, with an essay by curator Luca Cerizza (in English & Italian). This series began with Monk’s two-year stay in Rome. He began recreating famous modern and contemporary artworks by artists such as Warhol, Cattelan, LeWitt, Judd, Kippenberger, Noland, Prince, Ruscha, Kruger, Wool, Koons, Hirst, Buren, Gilbert & George, etc., on restaurant receipts. Monk then took a picture and uploaded it to Instagram, where the first person to comment could buy the illustrated receipt for the cost of the meal (plus postage). The series continues to this day (May 2021).

As new. Two versions were made, with the spine in pink or blue; no stated edition size.
