First edition of this rare work (only one copy located in North America by WorldCat) on the black currant and its cultivation and uses as a medicine for both humans and animals. Beaumont describes how the seed oil, leaves, fruit, and flowers can be used to make various medicines to treat arthritis, migraines, colic, fevers of various types, wounds and skin diseases, etc., etc. There is also a long chapter on how to make ratafia using cassis.

The frontispiece depicts the black currant plant. The final page contains a quatrain by Beaumont entitled “Eloge du Cassis.”
